Who will use it?
This enhancement will impact all users who access and download documents outside of supplier management, especially those whose roles require exporting documents from specific tabs.
What has changed?
Document download and print permissions for non-supplier management documents are now governed by the export permission of the relevant tab, rather than by the general documents export permission.
For documents managed in Supplier Management, a user’s ability to download or print documents is controlled by the Documents row in CRUD permissions for their assigned role. To allow a user to download or print these documents, the role must have Export permission enabled for Documents.
For documents managed outside of Supplier Management, such as Certificates of Analysis (COAs) in Supplier Compliance, download and print access is controlled by the CRUD permission row for that specific tab. For example, to allow a user to download or print COAs and supporting COA document types, the role must have Export permission enabled for the COAs row.
For documents managed in Quality Management, a user’s ability to download or print documents on the Documents Tab or Authoring Tab is controlled by the Documents row in CRUD permissions for their assigned role. To allow a user to download or print these documents, the role must have Export permission enabled for Documents.
For documents managed outside of the Documents and Authoring tabs in QM, such as Documents on the QM CAR Tab, download and print access is controlled by the CRUD permission row for that specific tab. For example, to allow a user to download or print CAR documents, the role must have Export permission enabled for the CARs row.
Benefit to Users
Users will experience more precise access control, ensuring that only those with explicit export rights for a particular area can download documents, which helps prevent workflow interruptions and aligns permissions with user responsibilities. Overall, this change streamlines document access and makes permission management more intuitive for customers.
